Never provoke or disturb termites or try to eradicate them with insecticides.  The termite species must be identified in order for correct treatment to be prescribed by a termite technician.  Disturbing termites can cause them to migrate and infest another area.  Removing the infested timber and spraying the premises yourself.  It is essential for an experienced termite technician to carry out a termite inspection in accordance with Australian Standards AS 3660.2-2000.  Upon completion of a report, a termite management proposal is prepared, setting out the technician’s recommendations and the costs to implement them.

How often should a termite inspection be carried out?

According to the Australian Standard for termite management (AS 3660), it is strongly recommended to have a property inspected for termites at least once every year or more often in high risk areas.  Having your home inspected regularly enables the early detection of termites, thereby limiting damage to timber and the cost of repairs or replacement.
